On Saturday, Cecilia got bundled up for the day's activities. (It's probably about 120 degrees inside that suit, so she falls asleep pretty quick.)

She headed out to a local establishment with Mom, Dad, Granma, Granpa, and Auntie to enjoy a nice sandwich and watch part of the football game. Cecilia was nonplussed by the Hawkeyes performance, as you can see here.
And who doesn't enjoy a good toenail clippin'?

Later, Auntie E stopped by before heading out for some Hallowe'en festivities. Here's Cecilia learning about highway safety.

Day 50, 27 October 2006

It was Friday and the Grandparents came for a visit.

So Cecilia and her pappy got all dolled up and went for some supper.

As always, the days activities left Cecilia all tuckered out.

Happy Seven Weeks, Cecilia!

As you can tell by this last photo, Cecilia wasn't quite ready for bed at that point, so she stayed up a bit longer keeping Mom and Dad company.

Here are two movies. In the first I was trying to take a picture and the camera was actually on "movie" so I got a short movie. It still turned out pretty cute.


This second one is some video of Cecilia rubbing her nose against Mommy's pijamas saying "I'm going to get really effing upset if one of you a-holes doesn't fall me asleep soon."

Day 46, 23 October 2006

On Monday, Mommy decided that she was going to leave Baby with Daddy and get back in the gym. Daddy decided that he and Cecilia should use their "Daddy-Daughter Time" to make a trip to the local Public Library. Because it was colder than a brass bra out there, Mommy decided that Cecilia should wear her 0-3 mos. snowsuit, a gift from one of Daddy's coworkers. Here they are, both dressed and ready to go.

Day 45, 22 October 2006

On Sunday, Cecilia's Spanish friends invited her and her folks out for a little paella and a relaxing Sunday afternoon. Here you see Daddy's co-worker and below that, her mother, each taking a turn with everybody's guest of honor.

Day 44, 21 October 2006

Here you see Cecilia in her very first trip to the Wig & Pen Pub. Joining her at the table are Mommy and Daddy's college friends. After this, those people went downtown to celebrate someone's birthday. Mommy and Daddy and Cecilia went home and fell asleep before 11 on a Saturday.

On Friday Cecilia took a trip to the local Pizza Ranch. She did not find it as exhilirating as her friend Nico did.

Day 41, 18 October 2006

Day 41 was all about Cecilia's mom, who on October 18 celebrated a birthday. Cecilia got up early to make Mom some pancakes with chocolate whip cream and chocolate syrup on top. Here we see Mom waiting to enjoy them.

Later that evening, Cecilia's aunts brought over a very light and fluffy chocolate cake with chocolate frosting on the inside and chocolate flakes on top. And cream. It was enjoyed by Mom and Dad over the next few days, sometimes under a couple of scoops of cookies and cream ice cream and chocolate syrup.

Day 38, 15 October 2006

Cecilia is sad today because her abuelos had to go back home to Spain. Cecilia will miss them both very much and would like to thank them for all the extra help around the house for the first 38 days of her life. Cecilia's mama and daddy went medio loco with all that extra help, so lord knows what would've happened without it. Hopefully the chance to see them again will come again soon.

Don't cry, baby. Abuela cried enough at having to kiss you goodbye and get on that plane. Hopefully tomorrow you'll have a happy face to show abuela when she gets off the plane.

Day 38, 14 October 2006

On Saturday Cecilia awoke for a hearty Iowa breakfast of "pan-cakes*." Don't worry, Abuela and La chipurri split this plate.
Then they were off to WL for an Oktoberfest Party in a garage. Cecilia got the lucky spot by the space heater. Cecilia thought as much of the party as she did of her baptism and her first homecoming parade, that is, not worthy of her consciousness. Let's hope she was dreaming of something more worthy of her time.

Day 37, 13 October 2006

On Friday, Cecilia took a quick soak in the tub,

Put on her "GRANDMA LOVES (to spoil) ME" shirt,

And headed out to the Oxyoke Restaurant in Amana.

Grandpa O was finally allowed to hold little Cecilia after finally going to the doctor a 3-week wet, persistant hacking cough that was "probably just nothing."

Hey! Let's all look at a video of Mama feeding the baby! No, not THAT way you pervs, here you'll see her "supplementing the breast" with a bottle of formula. If this formula is so essential, why aren't we all drinking at least one glass for breakfast? That Carnation Instant Breakfast stuff is just sugar and flavor. Seriously, compare the ingredients to NESQUIK. Not all that different.

(On a side note, I apologize heartily to my daughter for bringing this much focus onto her baby acne at such a young age. Don't worry sweetheart, it'll clear up. And when it does, you'll be happy that we have various videos posted on the internet as well as animated GIFs to remember your little pimples.)

This is Cecilia on her changing table with a fresh diaper, just about to sneeze. Here we see Grandma J and Auntie E enjoying the pleasure of Cecilia's company at Los Portales Restaurante. Day 34, 10 October 2006

Today is a special day here at El Mundito de Cecilia. Today is the day that Cecilia becomes a motion picture star. Here's the youtube link to her video. This first one's not very exciting, and the plot's not very well developed, and the acting is sub-par, but I think this is a worthy first effort.

Here's a quick rundown of the story: We see Cecilia. She is in her bouncy chair. The bouncy chair isn't bouncing. Someone starts the bouncy chair a-bouncin'. Then we pan to Mama. She says something and smiles. Pan back to baby. Mysterious hand caresses baby's cheek. Hand wonders if baby's cheek is chubby fat or rock hard muscle. Hand checks cheek. Cheek is soft and fatty. Fade to black.

Day 33, 9 October 2006

One must keep the baby from sleeping in the same position all the time, lest the baby's head develop flat spots and become oddly shaped (we've all seen those people out there, walking around Wal-mart, at the fair, maybe he's your neighbor?) Cecilia uses a pink duck to keep from always looking to the left.

An afternoon ritual, Cecilia lays down on Daddy's lap while he pats and massages her back. She spends the next half hour burping and farting. Daddy will miss this tradition when she goes away for college.

Day 32, 8 October 2006

Sunday was a glorious day of roadtripping through Amana country in SE Iowa. Here you see Daddy and los suegros with Cecilia in front of a building that by all accounts is very old.
Later we stopped at Lily Lake by Middle Amana for a picnic lunch. Here you see Cecilia's abuela enjoy a bite of perfectly cooked beef rib. The chef's beef rib sits in the foreground.

Abuela and Cecila let lunch settle in front of Lily Lake. By all accounts, Lily Lake is espectacular! in the spring and/or summertime.
