Day 19, 25 September 2006

Monday night was once again bath night at Cecilia's house. Here you see Cecilia modeling a pink, long-sleeved onesie with a floral print. Mama is in shirt by Mango.

Here Dad gives little Ceci una duchita con el agua. Cecilia enjoys herself. Dad is in an iron-on Star Wars logo ringer tee (ca. 1995).

A close up of Cecilia relaxing in the tub. As soon as she leaves the warm water of the tub, she will start crying and panicking, much like when she was yanked out of the womb and into this world. If someone could rig up some baby-SCUBA gear and recreate the womb, baby comfort would be 100% and sleepless nights would be only a memory.

Day 18, 24 September 2006

Sunday at the farm saw Cecilia and her abuelos tour more of central Iowa's farms. Here's Cecilia's dad, uncle, Grandpa, and abuelo standing in front of la cosechadora.

Here's Cecilia's aunt, grandma, dad, mom, abuela, and abuelo enjoying an ice cream in town. Notice Cecilia enjoying the Glow Worm that she got a deal on at a garage sale in town.

Here's the happy familia getting ready for the short drive back to Iowa City from the farm. Cecilia was already in car-nap mode. Mom was soon to follow. Dad was obligated to remain somewhat more alert.

Day 17, 23 September 2006

Saturday saw Cecilia wake up on the farm and prepare for a full day of central Iowa sight-seeing and visiting. Her first task was to don her new khakis and pink sweater set. Done and done.

She saw many a' thing, but the highlight of the day was meeting her great-grandparents. Here they are getting acquainted over coffee and sweet biscuits.

The day proved long, as they all do, and by the end Cecilia was ready to hunker down into her car-seat for well deserved nap.

Day 16, 22 September 2006

Here are a few pics of the paternal grandparents manhandling Cecilia on a visit to the homestead. First we see Grandpa, showing off his grandparenting expertise. Day 15, 21 September 2006 (NSFW)

Cecilia had her first non-sponge bath last night and she seemed to enjoy the warm water and shower wand. She was a little reticent about doing nudes this early in her modeling career, but the photographer convinced her that it was time for the next step.
(An educational note for all you new or expecting parents: If your baby is having a lot of fun or relaxing well in the water and you don't know when you should take her out, try this method: remove her when she poops.)

Day 14, 20 September 2006

Wednesday nights had always been reserved for $.50 chicken legs at BWW when Mommy and Daddy were a swinging young couple, but would the tradition continue now that they had another mouth to feed? Yes.

Here's Aunt Erin consoling Cecilia after 3 or 4 Spicy Garlic Legs. Let that be lesson to you, Cecilia. Don't make the same mistakes your father did in his life. 4 to 6 legs is always a good choice. The 7th is always a mistake.

(Note to Child Services and Guinness Book: 2-week old baby did not actually consume chicken legs and hot sauce. Stop calling.)

Day 11, 17 Sept 2006

Sunday was a day for a trip! We went to the Coralville Reservoir and walked down into the Devonian Fossil Gorge. Here's the family portrait (w/ maternal grandparents).

The highlight might have been when a pack of deer walked through the valley about 50 ft. away from us. El suegro was very excited.

Cecilia watched her first Iowa State - Iowa game on Saturday, she chose the always pleasing yellow nightgown, avoiding the too-politicized red or black sleepers. Cecilia was hoping for a more exciting game, though, she only woke up to poop during the second quarter. The rest of the game was worthy of only sleepy looks at the TV from Daddy's lap.
