Day 34, 10 October 2006
Today is a special day here at El Mundito de Cecilia. Today is the day that Cecilia becomes a motion picture star. Here's the youtube link to her video. This first one's not very exciting, and the plot's not very well developed, and the acting is sub-par, but I think this is a worthy first effort.
Here's a quick rundown of the story: We see Cecilia. She is in her bouncy chair. The bouncy chair isn't bouncing. Someone starts the bouncy chair a-bouncin'. Then we pan to Mama. She says something and smiles. Pan back to baby. Mysterious hand caresses baby's cheek. Hand wonders if baby's cheek is chubby fat or rock hard muscle. Hand checks cheek. Cheek is soft and fatty. Fade to black.

Day 33, 9 October 2006
One must keep the baby from sleeping in the same position all the time, lest the baby's head develop flat spots and become oddly shaped (we've all seen those people out there, walking around Wal-mart, at the fair, maybe he's your neighbor?) Cecilia uses a pink duck to keep from always looking to the left. 
An afternoon ritual, Cecilia lays down on Daddy's lap while he pats and massages her back. She spends the next half hour burping and farting. Daddy will miss this tradition when she goes away for college.
Day 32, 8 October 2006
Sunday was a glorious day of roadtripping through Amana country in SE Iowa. Here you see Daddy and los suegros with Cecilia in front of a building that by all accounts is very old.
Later we stopped at Lily Lake by Middle Amana for a picnic lunch. Here you see Cecilia's abuela enjoy a bite of perfectly cooked beef rib. The chef's beef rib sits in the foreground.

Abuela and Cecila let lunch settle in front of Lily Lake. By all accounts, Lily Lake is espectacular! in the spring and/or summertime.

On Saturday Cecilia's friend Sebastian came over for a play date. Here they are sharing Cecilia's new bouncy chair and its many bangles and baubles.
As always, the stresses of the day leave young Cecilia tuckered out. 
Day 30, 6 October 2006
On Friday, Mommy, Daddy, los abuelos, and Cecilia all saw their first homecoming parade in Iowa City. Daddy and Cecilia also got to try out their new carrier. The consensus was that they both looked wicked awesome.

Day 27, 3 October 2006
On Tuesday, Cecila and her famn damily had a dinner party at a friends house. She strapped on her new old booties, handed down from her father. Yes folks, those are actual artifacts from late '70s middle America. I know they should be in a museum, but there they are on Cecilia's feet just in case she should want to make a run for it. 
Here are Cecilia and Mommy having a quick meal at our friends' house.

Day 24, 30 September 2006
On Saturday Cecilia woke up in Grandma's house in her pack 'n' play.
She quickly got dressed for a Baby Shower Brunch at the neighbor's house.
Dad spent the evening with a cabernet and the Hawkeye game.
Day 23, 29 September 2006
On Friday Cecilia visited the Capitol with her mama and her abuelos. Here they are trying to figure out how to steal back this trophy that Iowa soldiers took off the Spanish in the War of 1898.
